Privacy Policy

This policy explains the small amount of information Stamford Residents Directory may receive, how it is used, and the choices available to you. The service needs no account and does not keep a resident record about a visitor. It simply points to public rolls and historical collections in Stamford, Connecticut.

Information You Enter

A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Stamford Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, the message and details you include are used to answer it.

Routine Technical Logs

Our host may record standard server data such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of access. We review it in aggregate for security, site maintenance, and broad traffic counts. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics and, when present, advertising measurement.

How Information Is Used

Technical data helps us operate the pages, diagnose faults, understand general traffic, and improve the reference. We do not sell a visitor list or create an individual user profile from this information.

External Portals and Services

These pages link to Connecticut and Stamford records portals, libraries, archives, and outside search tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls what you submit and how it is handled. The same rule applies to the sponsored result service.

Who May Process It

Hosting and technical providers may process the server logs needed to run the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the limited automatic data described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires disclosure, and otherwise keep it within the purposes in this policy.

Security and Retention

The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above call for them. There are no user accounts here, so Stamford Residents Directory does not hold a site password or personal profile that could be exposed.

People Under 18

This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor sent information, contact us so it can be reviewed and deleted.

Your Connecticut Privacy Rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may be able to ask a covered business for access, correction, deletion, or other privacy choices. Connecticut's Data Privacy Act, Public Act 22-15, codified at C.G.S. §§42-515 through 42-526 in Chapter 743jj, covers qualifying businesses and includes rights concerning access, correction, deletion, portability, targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. It does not make Stamford or other public-agency records disappear. Because this service keeps little information, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and relevant technical logs, then removing what is within our control. Use the Contact page. Records held by Connecticut agencies or other custodians must be addressed to the office that created or maintains them; public-record duties under the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, C.G.S. §§1-200 through 1-242, are separate.

Policy Changes

If this policy changes, the new text will appear here. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
